Fees, Policies, Procedures, and Guidelines

At the Monroe County Recorder's Office our goal is make the process for getting and receiving documents an easy one. RECORDING FEES AND PRESERVATION SURCHARGE

Effective 01/01/2025, recording fees for most documents increased by $5.00 due to the passage of SB 94 by the Ohio Legislature. This surcharge is to support the preservation and digitization of documents and ongoing costs incurred by a county recorder’s office. The new recording fee is $39.00 for the first two pages and $8.00 for each additional page. See ORC 317.32

Sending Documents

If sending a document to be recorded by mail please include a self-addressed stamped return envelope that will accommodate the document(s) to be returned.

If mailing documents for recording by USPS please mail to:

Checks for Recording fees should be made payable to: Monroe County Recorder.

For conveyance documents submitted for recording - Monroe County Auditor fees should be paid by a SEPARATE check and enclosed with the required Auditor forms.

Document Standardization Guidelines

In Ohio, House Bill 525 went into effect on July 1, 2009. This law (ORC 317.114) creates standardization guidelines for documents that are recorded in this office.

The Guidelines Are As Follows

If a document does not conform to these guidelines, an additional recording fee of $20.00 will be collected.
